Indicazioni stradali

On April 8, 1945, citizens were celebrating in the city centre to mark the arrival of the Canadians when German snipers opened fire on the crowd from the Wine House Tower.

The Canadians responded by firing a flamethrower at the Wine House. The tower remained standing because it had been fireproofed in 1924 following a fire in 1920. However, the museum inside the Wine House was destroyed in the flames.
